Job summary

Marc Daniels Specialist Recruitment is recruiting a Senior Financial Accountant for a growing software business in central Brighton. You will own month-end, statutory accounts and tax, reporting to the Head of Finance, and partner with stakeholders across the business.

In this standalone role, you will manage month-end close, statutory reporting, VAT returns, and audit coordination, while supporting budgeting, cash flow forecasting and process improvements.

Qualifications

• ACCA or ICAEW (ACA) qualified.
• 3+ years post-qualification experience.
• Strong financial accounting and technical ability.
• Experience owning month-end and statutory accounts.
• Exposure to tax returns and audits.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close and monthly management accounts.
• Prepare year-end statutory accounts.
• Prepare VAT and other tax returns.
• Maintain fixed and intangible asset registers.
• Coordinate year audit with external auditors.
• Support budgeting and forecasting.
• Forecast cash flow and monitor liquidity.
• Review processes and controls to drive improvements.
• Collaborate with finance team and stakeholders.
• Work in Brighton office three days per week.

Job description

Marc Daniels are looking to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant for an established, growing software business in central Brighton

The role

You’ll own month-end, statutory accounts and tax, reporting to the Head of Finance.

What you’ll be doing

• Owning the month-end close and producing accurate, timely monthly management accounts
• Preparing the year-end statutory accounts
• Preparing tax returns, including VAT
• Making sure the business stays on top of VAT and statutory compliance
• Maintaining the fixed and intangible asset registers
• Running the annual audit and acting as the main contact for the external auditors
• Supporting the Head of Finance with budgeting and forecasting
• Managing and forecasting cash flow
• Reviewing finance processes and controls and driving improvements
• Working closely with the wider finance team and stakeholders across the business
• ACCA or ICAEW (ACA) qualified
• Three or more years post-qualification experience
• Strong financial accounting and technical ability, with a solid grasp of financial controls
• Experience owning month-end and preparing statutory accounts
• Exposure to tax returns and audit
• Confident working autonomously in a standalone seat
• Able to be in the Brighton office three days a week
