Job summary

Marc Daniels are looking to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant for an established, growing technology business in central Brighton.

This hands-on role reports to the Head of Finance and owns month-end, statutory accounts and tax, with clear progression routes and exposure to the leadership team.

Qualifications

• Experience with month-end close and statutory accounts.
• Experience preparing VAT and tax returns.
• Maintain asset registers and strong financial controls.
• Experience leading external audits.
• Strong initiative with a process improvement mindset.
• Willingness to work from Brighton office three days a week.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close and produce accurate, timely monthly management accounts.
• Prepare the year-end statutory accounts.
• Prepare VAT returns and other tax compliance.
• Maintain fixed and intangible asset registers and ensure compliance.
• Run the annual audit and be the main contact for external auditors.
• Support Head of Finance with budgeting and forecasting.
• Manage and forecast cash flow.
• Review finance processes and controls and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with the wider finance team and stakeholders across the business.

The role

This is a hands-on financial accounting role reporting to the Head of Finance. You'll own month-end, the statutory accounts and tax. The role gives you clear progression routes and good exposure to the leadership team.

What you'll be doing

• Owning the month-end close and producing accurate, timely monthly management accounts
• Preparing the year-end statutory accounts
• Preparing tax returns, including VAT
• Making sure the business stays on top of VAT and statutory compliance
• Maintaining the fixed and intangible asset registers
• Running the annual audit and acting as the main contact for the external auditors
• Supporting the Head of Finance with budgeting and forecasting
• Managing and forecasting cash flow
• Reviewing finance processes and controls and driving improvements
• Working closely with the wider finance team and stakeholders across the businessDesirables

Desirables

• ACCA or ICAEW (ACA) qualified
• Two or more years of post-qualification experience
• Strong financial accounting and technical ability, with a solid grasp of financial controls
• Experience owning month-end and preparing statutory accounts
• Exposure to tax returns and audit
• Confident working on your own initiative
• A process improvement mindset
• Able to be in the Brighton office three days a week
