Job summary

Marc Daniels are looking to recruit a Finance Manager for an established, growing technology business in central Brighton. You'll own month-end close and statutory accounts, prepare tax returns including VAT, and act as main contact for external auditors, with budgeting and forecasting support for the Head of Finance.

This standalone role requires strong accounting discipline, exposure to tax, audits and controls, ACCA/ICAEW qualification preferred, and the ability to be in the Brighton office

Qualifications

• ACCA or ICAEW (ACA) qualified.
• Three or more years post-qualification experience.
• Strong financial accounting and technical ability with solid controls.
• Experience owning month-end and statutory accounts.
• Exposure to tax returns and audits.
• Autonomous, standalone role with process improvement mindset.
• Brighton office three days a week.

Responsibilities

• Own month-end close and produce monthly management accounts.
• Prepare year-end statutory accounts.
• Prepare tax returns, including VAT.
• Ensure VAT and statutory compliance.
• Maintain asset registers (fixed & intangible).
• Coordinate annual audit with external auditors.
• Support budgeting and forecasting with Head of Finance.
• Forecast cash flow and manage liquidity.
• Review finance processes and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with wider finance team and stakeholders.

The role

You'll own month-end, statutory accounts and tax, reporting to the Head of Finance. It's a standalone role for now, with clear progression routes and good exposure to the leadership team.

What you'll be doing

• Owning the month-end close and producing accurate, timely monthly management accounts
• Preparing the year-end statutory accounts
• Preparing tax returns, including VAT
• Making sure the business stays on top of VAT and statutory compliance
• Maintaining the fixed and intangible asset registers
• Running the annual audit and acting as the main contact for the external auditors
• Supporting the Head of Finance with budgeting and forecasting
• Managing and forecasting cash flow
• Reviewing finance processes and controls and driving improvements
• Working closely with the wider finance team and stakeholders across the business

Desirables

• ACCA or ICAEW (ACA) qualified
• Three or more years post-qualification experience
• Strong financial accounting and technical ability, with a solid grasp of financial controls
• Experience owning month-end and preparing statutory accounts
• Exposure to tax returns and audit
• Confident working autonomously in a standalone seat
