Job summary

Trial Balance is seeking a Finance Assistant for a full-time, permanent role in Bodmin. You will support the day-to-day finance function across purchase and sales ledgers, reconciliations, and month-end activities in a collaborative team.

The role offers exposure to journals, stock accounting and management-accounts preparation, with opportunities to develop finance skills in a growing business in Cornwall.

Qualifications

• Experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and credit control.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence with financial data.

Responsibilities

• Purchase ledger ownership: process supplier invoices, coding, PO matching and prepare payment runs.
• Sales ledger management: raise invoices, allocate receipts and maintain customer accounts.
• Credit control: monitor aged debt, send reminders and resolve queries.
• Bank reconciliations: reconcile bank accounts, Shopify, PayPal and other payment providers.
• Expense and card administration: manage Soldo, credit-card reconciliations and VAT documentation.
• Month-end processes: journals, accruals, prepayments and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Stock accounting: journals for samples, events, write-offs, internal use and FOC stock.
• VAT support: ensuring correct VAT coding and valid supporting documentation.
• General finance support: schedules for management accounts, audit preparation and ad hoc reporting.
