The Cornish Mutual Assurance Company Ltd in Truro is seeking a Finance Assistant to deliver accurate financial administration while supporting colleagues and Members with queries. The role offers opportunities to contribute to system enhancements and process improvements within a finance function evolving to add greater value.

You will develop skills in process automation, data reporting, and treasury support while maintaining strong controls and audit trails in a proactive team environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in a finance, accounts or finance administration role.
• Knowledge of payments, purchase ledger, reconciliations and core finance processes.
• Strong Excel and systems skills.
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
• The confidence to challenge existing ways of working and suggest better solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Processing invoices, payments and refunds accurately and on time.
• Performing reconciliations and supporting treasury activities.
• Managing payment-related queries from colleagues and Members.
• Maintaining strong financial controls and accurate audit trails.
• Identify inefficient processes and suggest practical improvements.
• Support automation initiatives and system enhancements.
• Improve data quality, reporting and consistency.
• Reduce reliance on manual processes and individual knowledge.
• Embed new ways of working across the Finance team.
