Job summary

Trial Balance in Bodmin is hiring a part-time Finance Assistant to join a friendly finance team. You will maintain ledgers, manage credit control and perform reconciliations across multiple systems.

You will also gain exposure to month-end checks, VAT coding and general finance administration. The role offers flexibility around working days in a supportive, team-focused culture.

Qualifications

• Experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and credit control.
• Experience using Xero, Shopify or PayPal and strong Excel skills.
• Ability to work independently and methodically.

Responsibilities

• Process purchase invoices and reconcile supplier statements.
• Maintain sales ledger accuracy, raise invoices and allocate receipts.
• Manage credit control and follow up overdue balances.
• Complete bank, Shopify and PayPal reconciliations.
• Support month-end ledger reviews and reconciliation schedules.
• Assist with VAT coding and expense or company-card checks.
• Maintain financial records and support management accounts and audit prep.
• Provide day-to-day support to the Finance Director and wider team.

I’m currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant on behalf of a well-established and growing business based in Bodmin. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly and collaborative finance team in a varied and hands-on role focused on maintaining accurate ledgers, managing credit control and completing regular reconciliations across multiple systems. • Providing day-to-day supportto the Finance Director and wider team

We’re keen to speak with Finance Assistants, Accounts Assistants, Bookkeepers or Accounts Administrators with previous experience across purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations and credit control. Experience using Xero, Shopify or PayPal would be highly beneficial, alongside strong Excel skills and confidence working independently.
