Founded in 1883, Stockport County are one of the country’s longest established football clubs. Initially formed as Heaton Norris Rovers, the Club officially became Stockport County in 1890 after the County Borough of Stockport and have been based at Edgeley Park since 1902.
The team currently competes in Sky Bet League One, the third tier of the English Football League, after winning the 2023–24 Sky Bet League Two title.
Role Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Finance Assistant to assist in the day-to-day function of the Finance Team. You will be responsible for overseeing the transactional level functions such as cashbook, sales and purchase ledgers, as well as supporting the Finance Department in other areas.
Key Responsibilities
• Ownership of cash book management and bank reconciliations
• Taking responsibility for the recovery of accounts receivable and
management of the debtors ledger
• Overseeing the Accounts Payable function including purchase
invoice processing and supplier statement reconciliation.
• Preparation of payments runs whilst managing credit terms and
relationships with external stakeholders
• Managing expenses and credit card transactions including
reconciliation
• Assisting with preparation of the management accounts and
balance sheet reconciliations
• Being the first point of contact for any finance related questions
• Providing information and support to other departments in the
business, as required
Essential
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Have previous experience in a similar role
• Highly organised with the ability to prioritise
• A can-do attitude and a willingness to learn
Desirable
• Previous experience of working within Sport or a similar fast
paced industry
• Knowledge of Xero
• AAT qualified or training but not essential
