File Handler Litigated Credit Hire

Location: Leeds

Description

As a Litigated Credit Hire Specialist at Keoghs, you'll be part of a team dedicated to representing clients in high-stakes credit hire cases. This role provides an excellent opportunity to investigate Litigated Credit Hire claims, primarily handling claims up to £25,000. The File Handler's responsibilities include investigating claims submitted from specific opponents and working towards repudiating these claims successfully. This is a fantastic chance to gain experience in credit hire claims within a supportive team environment.

Key Accountabilities

The role involves managing a caseload of DA credit hire and injury files under supervision. You will handle instructions from litigation to conclusion, including:

  • Reviewing and analyzing files throughout the case lifecycle in accordance with client guidelines
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships, keeping clients informed and involved
  • Formulating initial case strategies for approval
  • Conducting legal research
  • Negotiating with third-party solicitors via telephone
  • Liaising with insured parties and insurers as needed
  • Carrying out actions as per the case management system task list
  • Completing management information processes accurately
  • Processing bills
  • Ensuring files comply with ISO 9001 standards
  • Adhering to SRA Standards & Regulations
  • Following Keoghs' values and working in a target-driven environment

The role also requires understanding of court processes, including drafting defenses, completing direction questionnaires, managing evidence exchange, instructing counsel, and drafting relevant legal questions and schedules.

Working Hours

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, including a 1-hour lunch break.

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications
Essential:
  • Experience in litigation and handling credit hire files with evidence of managing own caseload
  • At least 5 GCSEs or equivalent; degree or LPC preferred
  • Initiative, planning, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent listening and verbal communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills over the phone
  • Ability to follow processes and work strategically
  • Sensitivity and tact in communication
  • Decision-making ability
  • Calmness under pressure
  • Good IT skills (Word, Outlook, case management system experience preferred)
Desirable:
  • Experience handling PI claims
