Ex-Mil Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Field Technical Service Engineer to service safety products across healthcare and critical environments. This home-based role involves UK-wide travel, with a preference for the South of England near Oxford/Bristol.
You will diagnose faults, service and commission equipment, provide remote support, train customers and escalate where needed. A full UK driving license and hands-on technical ability are essential.
Are you a practical engineer who enjoys investigating faults, solving technical problems and understanding why something isn’t working - rather than simply following an installation process?
We’re recruiting two Field Technical Services Engineers on behalf of a growing specialist engineering business that designs and supplies safety products for environments where reliability is critical, including hospitals, mental-health facilities, schools and secure settings.
This is an opportunity to join a business with a clear purpose: helping protect people during vulnerable times through dependable products, thoughtful design and excellent technical support.
Home-based with regular UK-wide travel – ideally, you will be based in the South of England (near Oxford/Bristol area). You’ll combine hands‑on engineering with technical investigation, customer support and problem‑solving. You’ll typically spend 2–4 days per week on customer sites, with occasional overnight stays.
You’ll have experience in a hands‑on engineering environment, such as field service, maintenance, commissioning, installation, repair or technical product support. You’ll be confident working independently, communicating with customers and explaining technical findings clearly.
Experience across mechanical and electrical/electronic systems would be valuable, as would exposure to doors, architectural ironmongery, access control, electronic locking, alarms, low‑voltage systems or connected products.
Ex‑military engineers and service leavers are encouraged to apply. If you’ve worked with equipment maintenance, engineering support, technical inspection, testing, fault diagnosis or repair in the Armed Forces, your skills may transfer particularly well. Civilian experience is welcome, but above all, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate hands‑on technical ability and independently investigate and resolve problems.
You’ll need a full UK driving licence, a willingness to travel regularly and the professionalism to work safely in live healthcare, mental‑health and other controlled environments.
