Fraser Edwards Recruitment is seeking a practical Structural Test Technician to join a growing engineering team in Welwyn Garden City. You will travel across the UK to test structures and components, with occasional overseas travel. Most work is on-site, and you’ll be adaptable to different environments.

The role emphasizes a hands-on mindset, reliability, and willingness to learn, with on-the-job training and support. A full UK driving licence is required for site travel.

Qualifications

• No prior structural testing experience required.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills when speaking with customers and colleagues.
• Basic computer skills (Word/Excel).
• Full UK manual driving licence is required.
• Physically capable (lifting, heights, confined spaces) with training.

Responsibilities

• Set up and carry out tests to check the strength and performance of structures and components.
• Use specialist equipment to measure loads, movement and performance.
• Record test results accurately and help prepare reports.
• Install equipment used to monitor structures and measure movement.
• Communicate with customers to understand their requirements and explain the work.
• Use hand tools and help maintain testing equipment.
• Work alongside colleagues, customers and other contractors on-site.
• Follow health and safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
