Job summary

Ocho in Northern Ireland is seeking a Field Engineer to join their on-site team. This field role involves travelling across sites daily, installing and maintaining PCs, printers, scanners, EPOS and network equipment, and managing stock of faulty spares.

Applicants should be self-motivated with strong customer focus, ready to react quickly to requests, and comfortable with daily driving. A technical certificate and a valid UK driving licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical certificate, diploma, or equivalent experience.
• Clear, confident communicator who takes ownership of customer problems through to resolution
• Well organised, with the ability to plan, prioritise and act promptly
• Drives for results, with a sense of urgency and attention to detail
• Works well within a team and shares knowledge with colleagues
• Candidates must have full right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not available for this role
• A full, valid driving licence is essential
• Occasional after-hours or weekend support, and a moderate amount of heavy lifting (moving computers, servers, monitors)

Location: Northern Ireland (field-based, extensive daily travel across sites)

About the role

Our client is a well-established, highly regarded IT Managed Services provider serving organisations from multinationals to public sector bodies and smaller businesses. They need a Field Engineer for their Northern Ireland team.

This is a field role, not a desk job. You will be on the road daily across Northern Ireland sites, installing and maintaining PCs, printers, scanners, EPOS and network equipment, plus managing stock rotation of faulty spares. A genuine get up and go attitude and comfort with daily driving matters just as much as the technical skill set, if not more.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated self-starter with a strong customer focus and a professional manner. This is a customer-driven business, so flexibility matters and you need to be able to react quickly when called upon.

Technical skills (preferred but not essential)

• Strong technical aptitude and diagnostic skills, covering PC hardware and software installation and maintenance
• Experience installing maintenance kits, fuser units, and EPOS systems
• Windows operating systems, VPN setup, and network hardware configuration
• Printer, laptop, PC and telephone installation and assembly
• Comms, network experience, and information security awareness

Education

Salary and benefits

£30,000 basic salary, with on-call allowance and bonus bringing total earnings to approximately £35,000 per year.
