Job summary

SMT GB is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our Customer Support team across Stirling and surrounding areas. You will service, diagnose and repair Volvo construction equipment at customer sites, maintaining machine availability and delivering strong customer service.

The role requires NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent, and the ability to travel across the region. You will work independently, build relationships with customers, and uphold safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, HGV Maintenance, or a related engineering discipline.
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, drivetrains, electrics, and diagnostic systems.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on Volvo construction equipment and related machinery.
• Identifying and resolving mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and engine faults using diagnostic equipment.
• Serving as the primary point of contact for customers, providing updates on status and recommended actions.
• Completing job documentation, inspection reports, timesheets, and electronic records in real time.
• Maintaining safety, professionalism, and compliance with company policies.
