Job summary

Liebherr in Sheffield is seeking a proactive Field Service Engineer with strong technical expertise in heavy plant and construction equipment. You will perform inspections, servicing, diagnostics, maintenance, repairs and commissioning at customer sites to maximise machine availability and minimise downtime.

The role requires fault-finding across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems, the ability to work independently, and good communication to build lasting customer relationships.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 engineering apprenticeship completed.
• Experience as a Field Service Engineer or similar role.
• Proven fault-finding and repair experience on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems.
• Experience working in a customer-facing environment.
• Good IT literacy and ability to complete reports accurately.

Responsibilities

• Carry out inspections, servicing, diagnostics, commissioning, maintenance and repairs on machinery at customer sites and depots.
• Diagnose faults accurately and implement repairs to minimise downtime.
• Commission machines and provide handovers and basic operator familiarisation.
• Build strong relationships with customers, operators and maintenance staff.
• Identify developing faults and maintenance needs and recommend preventive measures.
• Produce detailed inspection and service reports with findings and actions.
• Ensure work aligns with manufacturer specs and company procedures.
• Process warranty and return parts properly.
• Collaborate with depot support teams and mentor fellow engineers.
• Maintain safe working environment per health, safety and environmental policies.
• Conduct courtesy visits and fleet inspections to prevent failures.
• Contribute to continuous improvement for efficiency and service delivery.
