Job summary

Kapital 7 Recruitment is seeking experienced Field Service Engineers for a leading earthmoving equipment manufacturer in the UK. The role covers nationwide travel with on-site diagnostics, repair and preventative maintenance of heavy plant machinery.

You will work with hydraulic, electrical and engine systems, interpreting schematics and using diagnostics software. A valid UK driving licence is essential and a competitive package includes a company vehicle and allowances.

Qualifications

• Strong electro-mechanical foundation for field service diagnostics and repair.
• Experience identifying faults across hydraulic, electrical and engine systems.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics and use diagnostics software.
• Self-motivated with ability to plan and travel regionally.
• Clean UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• On-site diagnostics and repair of earthmoving machinery including excavators and loaders.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and routine servicing per manufacturer guidelines.
• Troubleshoot complex system faults and diagnose hydraulic/electrical issues.
• Provide on-site customer interface and technical guidance to ensure satisfaction.

Field Service Engineer – Earthmoving / Heavy Plant Equipment

I’m currently looking for experienced Field Service Engineers for one of the largest construction machine manufacturers in the world.

Working across the UK, you will have strong electro-mechanical skills, carrying out effective inspection, repair and maintenance of all products within the company’s earthmoving division

Key Responsibilities

• On-Site Diagnostics & Repair - Rapidly identify and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults on a wide range of earthmoving machinery (excavators, loaders, crushers, and screeners)
• Preventative Maintenance - Carry out routine machinery inspections and servicing in line with manufacturer guidelines.
• System Troubleshooting - Work confidently with advanced machinery control systems, heavy hydraulics and engines
• Customer Interfacing - Act as the face of the company on-site, offering technical guidance and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.

Ideal Requirements

• Technical Qualifications - NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural Engineering, or an equivalent recognized engineering apprenticeship.
• Industry Experience - A minimum of 2–3 years of hands‑on experience working on modern heavy plant, construction, or earthmoving equipment.
• Core Technical Competencies - Strong foundational knowledge of heavy hydraulics, electrical schematics, diagnostics software, and engines.
• Independence & Flexibility - A self‑motivated individual who can manage their own schedule and is willing to travel regionally.
• Licences - A valid, clean UK driving licence is essential
