Job summary

CJS Direct Ltd is seeking a Service Engineer to join our Birmingham team. This on-site role involves installing, servicing and maintaining compressed air systems for customers across the Midlands and beyond.

You will perform diagnostics, complete service reports and ensure safe, efficient operation while adhering to health and safety standards. The ideal candidate will have field service experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and a relevant technical qualification.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for mechanical and electrical components.
• Field service experience on customer sites and independent prioritisation.
• Ability to interpret technical documentation and use test equipment.
• Maintenance and repair of industrial or compressed air systems.
• Clear communication and ability to explain issues to non-technical stakeholders.
• Relevant technical qualification (e.g., NVQ, City & Guilds) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel within the region.
• Awareness of health and safety standards in industrial environments.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and maintain compressed air systems at customer sites.
• Perform scheduled and reactive maintenance and diagnostics.
• Complete service reports and maintain accurate records.
• Communicate work carried out and recommended actions to customers and internal teams.
• Adhere to health and safety standards and participate in out-of-hours rota as needed.
• Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality support.
