Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Field Service Engineer to join the Grid Automation Team in the United Kingdom. The role involves nationwide site work and on-call emergency call-outs, engaging with customers to meet service expectations.

You will travel to various sites across the UK, provide on-site technical support, and contribute to innovative solutions within a supportive engineering team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in the industry with willingness to perform nationwide site work.
• Knowledge of SCADA & RTU systems.
• Basic understanding of power transmission and distribution protection solutions.
• Customer focus and fluent in spoken and written English.
• HNC/HND in Electrical Engineering.
• Working knowledge of communication networks.
• Working knowledge of IEC61850.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the reporting and record system for customer problems, maintenance and fixes.
• Provide technical support to customers and colleagues evaluating technical requirements and queries.
• Assist Sales & Tendering with customer and site-specific experience and knowledge.
• Prepare technical and test specifications and test reports.
• Ensure compliance with Quality Management System, Safety Procedures and Accountancy Policies.
• Help maintain customer spares and standby systems.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments for onsite work.
• Ensure conformity to Hitachi Energy Electrical Safety Management System.
• Understand environmental risks associated with the business unit.

At Hitachi Energy, an exciting opportunity awaits to join the Grid Automation Team as a Field Service Engineer. This role involves contributing to the advancement of power grid technology, impacting the world of power grids positively.

The position entails traveling to various sites across the United Kingdom to engage with customers, ensuring the maintenance or surpassing of their service expectations. As part of the role, you will be on an 'on call Rota' to deliver emergency call-out services to existing customers, fostering a dynamic environment within a supportive engineering team committed to offering innovative solutions to our valued customers.

How You'll Make An Impact

• Maintain the reporting and record system for customer problems, maintenance and fixes.
• Provide technical support to both customers and colleagues in evaluating technical requirements and answering associated technical queries.
• Assist Sales & Tendering to impart customer and site-specific experience and knowledge.
