Working as the operational lead on customer sites, you'll be responsible for supervising field service teams, coordinating site activities, ensuring compliance with project requirements, and maintaining strong customer relationships. You will play a key role in delivering transformer installation, commissioning, maintenance, refurbishment, and service projects whilst upholding the highest standards of health and safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced field service leader to develop their management capability whilst supporting critical energy infrastructure projects throughout the UK.

How You'll Make an Impact:

You'll lead and coordinate teams of Field Service Engineers and subcontractors on customer sites, ensuring all activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project requirements.

Take responsibility for day-to-day site management activities, ensuring work is delivered in line with project schedules, quality standards, contractual obligations, and customer expectations.

Ensure compliance with all Hitachi Energy health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements, proactively identifying hazards and implementing corrective actions where required.

Coordinate site logistics, resource allocation, documentation, permits, access requirements, and subcontractor activities to ensure successful project delivery.

Lead daily briefings, toolbox talks, risk assessments, and site safety discussions to maintain a strong safety culture across all site activities.

Monitor project progress, identify risks and issues, and elevate concerns appropriately to Project Managers and Service Management teams.

Drive a culture of operational excellence by identifying opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Act as an ambassador for Hitachi Energy whilst identifying potential service opportunities and customer requirements that support long-term business growth.

Your Background:

Experience in the installation, commissioning, maintenance, refurbishment, or repair of large industrial, mechanical, electrical, or electro-mechanical equipment.

Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, safe systems of work, and risk management within a field service environment.

Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings, technical documentation, engineering procedures, and project specifications.

Experience coordinating contractors, subcontractors, and multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

Able to work well using your own initiative whilst maintaining effective communication with wider project and service teams.

Flexible in your approach to working hours and travel requirements, with the ability to work throughout the UK and respond to customer and project requirements at short notice.

Comfortable spending a significant proportion of the year working away from home on customer sites across the UK.

Highly organised with excellent planning, coordination, and prioritisation skills.

A systematic approach to problem-solving with the confidence to make sound operational decisions in challenging site environments.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, engineers, subcontractors, and management teams.
