Job summary

Hiremech in North London is seeking a Field Service Engineer to service, install and maintain material handling equipment across London and the South East. Based in Tottenham, you will visit customer sites, diagnose faults and carry out repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently.

The role requires a technical qualification, hands-on experience, and the ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and communicate clearly with customers.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Attending customer locations to determine the scope of work and agree priorities.
  • Liaise with controller and customer on timescales and costs.
  • Identify root cause and obtain correct parts cost-effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering standards and manufacturer specs.
  • Carry out inspections and ensure equipment is safe before handover.
  • Identify further work and communicate costs to the customer.
  • Complete all related job and service documentation with signatures.

The Opportunity: Field Service Engineer

Contract: Permanent

Location: Tottenham, London

We are based in North London and have been providing material handling solutions ever since we established ourselves in 1994. Now with more than 25 years' experience, we are the leading forklift supplier for London and the South East. Hiremech is part of The Briggs Equipment Group who are a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland. The Impact you will have:
  • Attending customer locations to determine the likely scope of the work required, assessing and agreeing with the end user his/her work priorities, ensuring safe working practices are adhered to.
  • Both at outset and as work progresses, liaise with controller and customer on the range of expected work providing clarity and understanding by all parties the likely timescales and associated costs are understood.
  • Identifying the root cause of a breakdown in a timely manner and ensure the correct parts are obtained in the most cost-effective way. Use any available resources to achieve this, including when required the Briggs Technical team
  • Ensuring all work complies with engineering standards and, as relevant, Briggs/manufacturer specification/tolerances.
  • Carrying out inspection/checks on own work as it proceeds and ensuring that the equipment performs satisfactorily and is safe before handing back to the customer.
  • Identifying any further work required on a machine and ensure the customer is made aware of the fact, especially where a cost to the customer is to be incurred. The engineer should ensure that they maximise and potential revenue for equipment that has been damaged.
  • Completing all related job and service documentation is correctly, with necessary signatures/documents obtained from the customer
