Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Based in Slough, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer for Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities within designated areas, including the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

Do you enjoy working with a supportive, down-to-earth team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field? Our field teams are vital in delivering maintenance, installation, cabling, and civils works, helping to keep the nation's critical infrastructure connected and secure 24/7.

Responsibilities:

• Attend to cable breaks and repair copper and fibre cables to maintain network functionality.
• Complete all commissioning of equipment to standard, on time, and within budget.
• Address equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets within your area, day or night.
• Perform general maintenance, commissioning, and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
• Complete all related documentation promptly.

Candidate Profile:

Previous experience in a similar role, with skills in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key Requirements:

• Experience with motorway communications or similar systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunications networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Willingness to work overtime or on call as required.
• Full UK driving license.
