Job Description:

Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Location: Slough, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (Remote)

Everyday activities such as using the internet, traveling, or emergency services rely on the technology enabled by Telent. We are recruiting an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, performing maintenance and commissioning within designated areas including the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

The role involves working with a supportive team and using your initiative to solve problems in the field. Responsibilities include maintenance, installation, cabling, and civils works to keep critical infrastructure connected and protected 24/7.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Attending to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables.
  • Completing equipment commissioning to standards, on time and within budget.
  • Addressing equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets, day or night.
  • Performing general maintenance and testing on fibre and copper equipment.
  • Documenting all tasks accurately and timely.
Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments preferred.

Additional Requirements:
  • Experience with motorway communications or related equipment/systems.
  • Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, fibre splicing, and testing.
  • Strong health and safety awareness.
  • Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
  • Availability for overtime or callouts as required.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
