Operations and Maintenance Engineer

Based in Slough, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom (Remote). At Telent, we enable essential technologies used in everyday activities like internet surfing, travel, and emergency services. We are seeking an Operations & Maintenance Engineer to work on Highways England Contracts, focusing on maintenance and commissioning activities within designated areas, including the M25, M4, M11, M1, A14, M40, and A1(M).

Do you enjoy working with a supportive team while also using your initiative to solve field problems? Our field teams are vital in delivering and supervising maintenance, installation, cabling, and civils works, helping to build and maintain the nation's critical infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Attending to cable breaks and repairs on copper and fibre cables to maintain network functionality.
• Ensuring all equipment commissioning is completed to standard, on time, and within budget.
• Responding to equipment issues in Transmission Buildings and Roadside Cabinets within your area, day or night.
• Performing general maintenance, commissioning, and testing of fibre and copper equipment.
• Completing all required documentation promptly.

Candidate Requirements:

Previous experience in a similar role, with familiarity in fault finding and testing in fibre or copper environments.

Key Skills:

• Experience with motorway communications or related systems.
• Knowledge of telecommunication networks, copper jointing, and fibre splicing & testing.
• Strong health and safety awareness.
• Ability to repair fibre or copper cable breaks.
• Flexibility to work overtime or on call as required.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
