Job summary

NatCen Social Research is seeking a Field Interviewer to visit addresses across a defined area and conduct in-home interviews on health, housing and transport topics. You will play a key role in capturing real experiences to inform policy and services, with travel and flexible hours built into the role.

You’ll receive thorough training, use a NatCen device to guide interviews, and work with a supportive field team. Prior experience is not required.

Qualifications

• A full UK driving license and access to a car.
• Class 1 Business insurance.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Willingness to complete a DBS check.
• Reliable home broadband.
• Minimum 20 hours availability per week.
• Confidence using basic technology.
• Flexibility to work across weekdays, evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Visit addresses across the assigned area to conduct in-home interviews.
• Listen, capture experiences on health, housing, transport and public services.
• Record responses accurately using the NatCen device.
• Travel within the assigned fieldwork area; occasional longer journeys and overnight stays.
• Work independently with support from a field manager and shadowing from experienced interviewers.
