Job summary

NatCen is looking for a Field Interviewer in Colchester to carry out in-home research interviews on health, housing, transport and daily life. You’ll travel within a defined area, use a NatCen device to guide conversations, and record responses accurately.

The role is part-time, travel-based, and requires strong listening and communication skills, reliable scheduling, and the ability to engage with diverse participants. Training is provided.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and listening skills for sensitive home interviews.
• Willingness to travel across assigned area and flexible hours.
• Reliable and organized with the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Visit addresses within an assigned area to conduct in-home interviews.
• Record responses accurately using the NatCen device.
• Guide conversations and ensure participants are comfortable.
• Travel 30–60 minutes each way; occasional longer trips or overnight stays.
