Job summary

Northumberland County Council is seeking a Family Time Worker to support families who cannot live together, observing interactions and recording parenting notes to help keep children safe. You will work directly with families and carers with a focus on safeguarding and supportive guidance.

This fixed-term role runs for 9 months from January 2027, requiring an enhanced DBS check and health clearances. NVQ 3 in working with children and families, evening/weekend flexibility, and a valid driving

Qualifications

• NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience.
• Direct work with children, families and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency.
• Flexibility to work evenings and occasional weekends, often after 6 pm.
• Access to a vehicle and a driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Help support families to spend quality time with each other when they can’t live together.
• Allocate a family and observe/record interactions and parenting, providing advice to ensure child safety.
• Maintain professional relationships while managing complex family needs and behaviours.
