Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a Family Support Worker to join the Early Help Service in Burnley. You will manage a caseload of families, deliver tailored, evidence-based interventions, and conduct early help assessments.

You'll collaborate with schools and partner agencies, maintain records, and work flexibly to meet family needs, including evenings and weekends when required. Commitment to safeguarding and equality is essential.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification or substantial field experience.
  • Experience of working directly with children, young people, and families.
  • Strong assessment, planning, and critical reflection skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Hold a caseload of families and deliver personalised, evidence-based interventions.
  • Undertake early help assessments and co-produce action plans with families.
  • Work as part of a Team Around the Family to provide seamless support.
  • Maintain accurate records and apply analysis to justify decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with families and professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet family needs.
