Job summary

Lancashire County Council in Preston is hiring a Family Support Worker for the Early Help Service to support children, young people and families across Fylde and Wyre. The role involves targeted, evidence-based interventions, early help assessments, and collaborative planning with families and partner agencies.

We’re looking for compassionate, dedicated professionals with strong communication skills, safeguarding commitment, and the ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Hold a caseload of families and deliver personalised, evidence‑based interventions.
• Undertake early help assessments and co‑produce action plans with families.
• Work as part of a Team Around the Family to provide seamless support.
• Maintain accurate records and apply analysis to justify decisions.
• Build strong relationships with families and professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
• Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet family needs.
• Level 3 qualification or substantial experience in a relevant field.
• Experience of working directly with children, young people, and families.
• Strong assessment, planning, and critical reflection skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and health and safety.
