Job summary

Lancashire County Council is seeking a Family Support Worker to join the Early Help Service – Education and Children’s Services in Lancaster, Fylde & Wyre. You will manage a caseload, delivering tailored, evidence-based support to families to help children thrive.

Role requires collaboration with schools and partners, undertaking early assessments, co-producing action plans, maintaining records, and building strong professional relationships. Some evenings and weekends may be required.

Qualifications

  • Level 3 qualification or substantial experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience of working directly with children, young people, and families.
  • Strong assessment, planning, and critical reflection skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and health and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Hold a caseload of families and deliver personalised, evidence-based interventions.
  • Undertake early help assessments and co-produce action plans with families.
  • Work as part of a Team Around the Family to provide seamless support.
  • Maintain accurate records and apply analysis to justify decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with families and professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet family needs.
