Job summary

Lancashire County Council is hiring a Family Support Worker for the Early Help Service, covering Preston & Chorley. You will work directly with families to assess needs and deliver tailored, evidence-based support.

The role requires strong safeguarding knowledge, excellent communication, and the ability to collaborate with schools and partners. Flexible working and a commitment to helping children thrive are expected.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Level 3 qualification or substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience of working directly with children, young people and families.
  • Strong assessment, planning and reflective skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Hold a caseload of families and deliver personalised, evidence-based interventions.
  • Undertake early help assessments and co-produce action plans with families.
  • Work as part of a Team Around the Family to provide seamless support.
  • Maintain accurate records and apply analysis to justify decisions.
  • Build strong relationships with families and professionals to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends, to meet family needs.
  • Ensure safeguarding, equality and health and safety compliance.
  • Collaborate with schools and partner agencies to deliver joined-up support.
