BC Cancer – Surrey is seeking a family physician to work part-time within the Medical Oncology Department as a General Practitioner in Oncology (GPO). The GPO collaborates with Medical Oncologists, other medical specialists, nurses, and clerical staff in an interdisciplinary environment. Responsibilities include ambulatory care for patients on therapy and in follow-up, with some inpatient care support. There is no on-call requirement for this role.
The Surrey Centre offers comprehensive services in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care, and supportive services such as Nutrition, Clinical Trials, and Patient & Family Counseling. Located 30 km from downtown Vancouver, Surrey provides access to Vancouver's recreational and cultural activities.
Applicants must be licensed family physicians in British Columbia and eligible for appointment at BC Cancer Agency and Surrey Memorial Hospital. Inpatient and oncology experience is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided. Applicants must also be suitable for appointment at the University of British Columbia.
Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to reconciliation and understanding of Indigenous issues, including knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical contexts affecting Indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism initiatives.
