Descrizione del lavoro

Purpose of the role:

The DFMA Supervisor runs the Skerne Park workshop day to day. The role turns approved designs into accurate, well-built assemblies that arrive at our factories on time and ready to install.Every assembly we build off the line saves time and risk on the factory floor. So the standard has to be right first time, every time. The DFMA Supervisor leads a small, hands-on team, works on the tools where needed, and owns the quality and flow of everything that leaves the workshop.

Key Responsibilities:
Workshop Delivery
  • Plan and run daily workshop activity so assemblies are built in line with the factory installation programme.
  • Build and check assemblies from approved drawings, schedules and DFMA details.
  • Sequence work so the right assemblies reach the right factory at the right time.
  • Keep the workshop organised, with clear areas for kitting, assembly, testing and dispatch.
  • Work on the tools alongside the team when the programme needs it.
Quality and Testing
  • Make sure every assembly is built to drawing and specification before it is offered for inspection.
  • Carry out first-line checks and pressure testing as each assembly is built.
  • Present completed assemblies to the DFMA Technical QA/QC Supervisor for inspection and sign off before dispatch.
  • Respect inspection hold points. No assembly leaves the workshop without QA/QC sign off.
  • Label and identify each assembly clearly so it can be traced to its project and location.
  • Support the DFMA Technical QA/QC Supervisor in keeping quality records in line with the Enlight10 ISO 9001 quality management system.
  • Work with the DFMA Technical QA/QC Supervisor to close out defects and non-conformances, and put the fix in place.
Health, Safety and Workshop Standards
  • Lead safe working in the workshop every day, following the relevant RAMS and company procedures.
  • Make sure tools and equipment are in good order, inspected and used correctly.
  • Report accidents, near misses and concerns promptly through the agreed HSEQ process.
  • Set the standard for housekeeping and challenge unsafe behaviour straight away.
Materials and Efficiency
  • Check materials received against the approved BOM and flag shortages or errors early.
  • Control stock within the workshop and keep waste to a minimum.
  • Raise any product or design query through the agreed change process, rather than substituting on the bench.
  • Look for ways to improve build times, jigs, kitting and repeatable details.
People Leadership
  • Lead, motivate and direct up to 5 workshop operatives.
  • Allocate work fairly and make sure everyone knows what good looks like.
  • Coach the team, spot training needs and support their development.
  • Manage attendance, timesheets and day-to-day performance, escalating issues to the Manufacturing/Off-Site Director.
Reporting
  • Provide accurate daily updates on workshop output to the Factory Manager to support the project tracker.
  • Report weekly to the Manufacturing/Off-Site Director on progress, quality, safety and resource.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
  • Proven experience in pipework installation or fabrication, ideally within off-site or prefabrication.
  • Confident reading drawings, isometrics and schedules.
  • Experience of pressure testing and recording results.
  • Experience of supervising or leading a small team.
  • Good IT skills for reporting, records and email.
  • Excellent working knowledge of current building regulations
Desirable
  • NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing, Heating or Mechanical Services
  • SSSTS or SMSTS.
  • Working knowledge of electrical containment and TV distribution assembly.
  • Experience of multi-service modules or risers.
  • Understanding of ISO 9001 quality processes.
  • First aid, abrasive wheels and manual handling training.
Person Specification
  • Hands‑on and practical, with a real pride in workmanship.
  • Organised, able to juggle priorities and keep the workshop flowing.
  • A clear communicator who raises problems early and comes with solutions.
  • Fair and firm, able to set standards and hold the team to them.
  • Safety focused, leading by example every day.
  • Keen to improve the way we work and share ideas.
