Job summary

Resourcing Partnership Ltd is seeking an experienced Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of Multiskilled Engineers on a rotating shift at our Barry site. You will drive preventive maintenance, safety, and continuous improvement, ensuring breakdowns are resolved quickly and manufacturing targets are met.

The role requires hands-on technical leadership, hands-on coaching of peers and apprentices, and close collaboration with the Health & Safety Manager to maintain high standards of hygiene,

Qualifications

• Domestic wiring experience required.
• Boiler/Steam experience essential.
• PLC program structure and operational awareness expected.
• Electrical/Mechanical qualification or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Supervise engineers and visiting contractors to ensure safe operations.
• Enforce Health & Safety rules and regulations on site.
• Identify hazards and report to the Health & Safety Manager.
• Ensure preventive maintenance schedules (PPM) are followed and developed.
• Initiate improvement plans to enhance efficiency and reliability.
• Help the department achieve budget targets through efficient use of materials and parts.
• Follow correct ordering processes for replacement parts.
• Coach peers, apprentices and frontline staff on technical and behavioural skills.

Job description

Overview

To manage a team of Multiskilled Engineers on a shift rotation - ensuring they maintain continuous production and improve efficiencies safely through effectively implementing preventative maintenance schedules and responding in a timely manner to breakdown repairs. Ensure continuous improvement methodologies are applied that improves the operational function.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• To ensure supervision and safe operating procedures for engineers and visiting contractors
• To maintain Health & Safety rules and regulations
• To identify potential hazards/risks to the Health & Safety Manager/responsible person upon discovery
• To ensure all PPM schedules are completed and developed using predictive and diagnostic maintenance techniques
• To Initiate improvement plans in a pragmatic and proactive manner
• To ensure the Engineering department in achieving its budget targets through the efficient use of materials and replacement parts
• To follow the correct accounting/authorisation process when ordering replacement parts
• Maintain and improve standards of hygiene and housekeeping in all areas of the factory including the engineering office and workshop.
• To effectively manage the Shift Engineers - planning work, addressing performance issues, T/A and implementation of training plans
• Manage the day to day issues and ensure any assistance from OEM's is escalated.
• To undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all CPM production equipment and assist across all site engineering issues when required.
• Provide technical and behavioural coaching to peers, apprentices, and front-line production colleagues
• Be the technical resource for projects and technical specification's
• Transfer best practice to further the development and performance of the engineering function.
• To be aware of and adhere to all Company policies and procedures.
• Any other duties as required by management and within the competency of the post holder.
