Job summary

Fusion People is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead a council FM service in Newton Abbot. The role focuses on safe, compliant and efficient buildings with a 09:00–17:00 Mon-Fri schedule. Temporary contract until 31 December with PAYE rate £22.91/hour. Will oversee hard and soft FM and drive sustainability initiatives.

You will manage staff, budgets, and external contracts, ensuring value for money while reporting on space use and costs. Driving licence required.

Qualifications

• Significant proven experience in facilities management.
• Experience of managing staff, budgets and financial planning.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and building services.
• Understanding of sustainability and carbon reduction.
• Level 4 FM qualification (IWFM or equivalent) and a management qualification such as ILM Level 4, or a willingness to work towards them.
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Driving licence

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of facilities staff.
• Develop and deliver an FM strategy aligned with organisational objectives.
• Manage delegated budgets and external contracts, ensuring value for money.
• Oversee hard FM (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heat pumps, EV charging, fire safety, lifts, solar, CCTV) and soft FM (cleaning, grounds, reception, security, porters).
• Manage risk, health and safety, and sustainability initiatives.
• Use data to report on space efficiency, compliance and running costs.
