Job summary

Fusion People are recruiting an experienced Facilities Manager to lead a council's FM service, providing leadership and operational oversight of the estate to ensure safety, compliance, efficiency and sustainability.

The fixed-term contract runs until 31 December, with standard hours from 09:00 to 17:00, Monday to Friday. The role requires a Level 4 FM qualification (IWFM or equivalent) and strong budget and staff management skills.

Qualifications

• Significant proven experience in facilities management.
• Experience of managing staff, budgets and financial planning.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and building services.
• Understanding of sustainability and carbon reduction.
• Level 4 FM qualification (IWFM or equivalent) and ILM Level 4 or similar.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of facilities staff.
• Develop and deliver FM strategy aligned with organisational objectives.
• Manage budgets and external contracts, ensuring value for money.
• Oversee hard FM (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heat pumps, EV charging, fire safety, lifts, solar, CCTV) and soft FM (cleaning, grounds, reception, security, porters).
• Manage risk, health and safety, and sustainability initiatives.
• Use data to report on space efficiency, compliance and running costs.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Facilities Manager to lead a council's Facilities Management service, providing leadership and operational oversight of the estate so that buildings are safe, compliant, efficient and sustainable.

Job type: Temporary, initially until the 31st of December

Location: Newton Abbot, TQ12 4XX

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00

Rate: GBP22.91/h PAYE

Key responsibilities
