Job summary

Fusion People Ltd is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to lead a council's Facilities Management service, delivering safety, compliance and sustainable operation of the estate in Newton Abbot. This temporary role runs from now until 31 December, with hours Monday to Friday 09:00–17:00.

You will lead a team, manage budgets and external contracts, and ensure value for money while upholding health and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Significant proven experience in facilities management.
• Experience of managing staff, budgets and financial planning.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations and building services.
• Understanding of sustainability and carbon reduction.
• Level 4 FM qualification (IWFM or equivalent) and a management qualification such as ILM Level 4, or a willingness to work towards them.
• Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
• Driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and develop a team of facilities staff.
• Develop and deliver an FM strategy aligned with organisational objectives.
• Manage delegated budgets and external contracts, ensuring value for money.
• Oversee hard FM (plumbing, electrical, mechanical, heat pumps, EV charging, fire safety, lifts, solar, CCTV) and soft FM (cleaning, grounds, reception, security, porters).
• Manage risk, health and safety, and sustainability initiatives.
• Use data to report on space efficiency, compliance and running costs.

Job description

Job type: Temporary, initially until the 31st of December

Location: Newton Abbot, TQ12 4XX

Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00

Rate: 22.91/h PAYE
