Job summary

Serco is seeking a FM Services Operative at HMP Doncaster to keep facilities safe, secure and well functioning. The role involves planned and reactive maintenance across the site as part of a multi-skilled team, supporting rehabilitation and wellbeing within a demanding prison environment.

You will carry out maintenance duties to time and quality, maintain records, and contribute to continuous improvement while working 40 hours per week within a structured shift pattern.

Qualifications

• Completed a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent trade-based qualification.
• Experience carrying out maintenance and repair activities within a facilities management, engineering, or similar environment.
• Able to work independently, prioritise workloads effectively, and use your own initiative.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted working relationships.
• Flexible, proactive, and committed to delivering excellent service and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Support general maintenance tasks across multiple trades within your skills.
• Work with engineers and facilities management colleagues to complete multi-trade maintenance.
• Maintain accurate records of planned and reactive works using handheld technology and update asset information.
• Ensure maintenance schedules are kept up to date and completed within timescales.
• Support the prison's rehabilitative culture and continuous improvement initiatives.
