Job summary

Amey is seeking a General Building Operative to support on-site maintenance at HMYOI Swinfen Hall. The role covers planned and reactive work, with a 39-hour week and weekend on-call rota, plus an extra 15% allowance on basic salary.

You will join a team delivering safe, compliant facilities across the site and contribute to carbon reduction initiatives where appropriate. The ideal candidate has solid DIY and general maintenance experience, is able to work well with others, and is willing to

Qualifications

• Solid experience in DIY/ general building maintenance.
• CITB relevant certification or equivalent is desired but not essential.
• Willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Work in a team to provide general maintenance tasks and support tradespeople on site.
• Provide a professional assistance service to those requesting support including contractor escorting duties when required.
• Complete tasks such as decorating, hanging notice boards, building furniture, and repairing items around the prison.
• Check appliances, fittings and general environment are in good working order and report defects to the Team Leader.
• Maintain good housekeeping and landscaping around the grounds if required.
• Carry out all other FM duties as directed by the team manager.
• Support local and business zero carbon programmes, working towards zero carbon in a strategic and lean manner where appropriate.
• Ensure H&S standards are achieved across the contract.
