Job summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a Head of Maintenance to ensure a clean, well-maintained home that feels like a welcoming residence for residents. You will lead the maintenance team, oversee daily tasks in the building and grounds, and work closely with the General Manager on budgeting.

You’ll manage contractor relationships, travel as needed, and apply hands-on skills to fix issues while maintaining high safety and quality standards for all at the home.

Qualifications

• At least one trade skill and hands-on maintenance experience.
• Reliable and flexible when working hours.
• Full UK driving licence, IT literacy and GCSEs in Maths and English.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance tasks in the care home and gardens.
• Fix faults (e.g., leaks) and carry out general upkeep.
• Liaise with contractors for specialist works outside the team.
• Support the General Manager with annual budget planning.
• Ensure a clean, well-maintained and welcoming environment for residents and staff.
