Job summary

Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains is offering an Advanced Apprenticeship Programme at our Northamptonshire R&D Centre. You will learn to use cutting‑edge machinery to manufacture precision components for F1 power units, while pursuing an Advanced Apprenticeship Standard and an IMECHE‑accredited pathway.

You will follow a 42‑month development plan with mentoring, exposure to engineering breadth, and progression toward Level 3 Machining or Engine Fitter qualifications.

Qualifications

• 5 GCSEs at grades equivalent to a C or above (4–9) in Maths and English Language, and preferably a science.
• Foundation engineering qualification at level 2 (completed or expected by September) may qualify you for the programme.
• Practical machining experience is advantageous and shows hands-on capability.
• Demonstrate passion for manufacturing with project/work experience and a proactive attitude.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, set and operate conventional, 3- and 5-axis CNC machining platforms on Level 3 – Machining.
• Learn to measure components with a range of inspection techniques.
• Support manufacturing machine shop and cross‑functional teams to develop parts.
• Maintain health & safety and environmental compliance in the workshop.
• Contribute to SOPs and Continuous Improvement activities.
