Job summary

Haas F1 Team seeks a Brake Performance Engineer to develop braking systems for the Formula 1 car in Banbury. You will analyse braking hardware, build performance tools, and support braking development across chassis and aero teams.

You will plan dynamometer tests, create models, and deliver trackside analysis from the Race Support Room. Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink and experience with carbon/carbon brakes are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
• Experience with carbon/carbon friction materials and braking-system hydraulic components.
• Experience analysing race car and test rig data.
• Strong understanding of race car vehicle dynamics.
• Experience developing engineering models and data-driven analysis tools.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and fault-finding capabilities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute dynamometer testing to understand brake friction and wear characteristics.
• Analyse braking-system data from race cars and tests to identify performance opportunities.
• Develop metrics, methodologies and tools to assess braking performance and reliability.
• Create and maintain brake system models and correlate simulations with race data.
• Collaborate with Thermal and Aerodynamics to optimise brake temperature windows.
• Provide race support from the Race Support Room with analysis and recommendations.
