As our Brake Performance Engineer, you will play a key role in developing the performance, reliability, and understanding of the braking systems of the TGR Haas F1 Team race car.
Reporting to the Head of Controls and Systems, you will analyse inboard and outboard braking systems, develop performance tools and methodologies, and act as a key technical point of contact for braking-system activities. Working across Controls and Systems, Vehicle Dynamics, Thermal, Aerodynamics and Race Operations, you will use simulation, test and race car data to support braking performance and development.
What You’ll Be Doing
Brake Performance & Development
- Provide technical expertise across braking systems, including master cylinders, calipers, Brake-by-Wire and carbon/carbon friction materials
- Support brake balance optimisation and analysis of tyre force and vehicle dynamics interactions
- Identify braking-system performance and reliability opportunities through engineering analysis
- Act as a key point of contact for braking-system-related activities across engineering teams
Testing & Analysis
- Plan, coordinate and execute dynamometer testing to understand carbon/carbon brake friction and wear characteristics
- Investigate braking system issues using race car and test rig data
- Develop analytical metrics, methodologies and tools to assess braking performance, functionality and reliability
- Create and maintain brake system models, correlating simulation results with race car data
- Collaborate with Thermal and Aerodynamics engineers to optimise brake operating temperature windows
- Provide race support from the Race Support Room, delivering analysis and recommendations to trackside teams when required
- Respond to trackside feedback and support fault-finding and performance investigations
- Prepare technical reports and clearly communicate findings across engineering teams
- Develop and improve engineering tools, methodologies and analysis processes
- Identify opportunities to enhance braking-system understanding, performance and reliability
- Build effective relationships across engineering departments and support cross-functional development activities

About Us
TGR Haas F1 Team has been a stalwart of the FIA Formula 1 World Championship for over a decade, with more than 200 Grand Prix starts. As the first American F1 team since 1986, we made an immediate impact with a points-scoring debut in 2016 - and we're still building momentum today.
With operations across Kannapolis (USA), Banbury (UK), and Maranello (Italy), we are a performance-driven, hands-on racing team where every contribution matters.
Here, you'll have visibility, responsibility, and the chance to make a real difference.
We're not a corporate machine, we're a team built on passion, speed, and innovation.
Why This Role?
If you're passionate about race car performance, vehicle dynamics and braking systems, this is an opportunity to combine testing, simulation and race car data to directly support braking performance and reliability within a Formula 1 environment.
Join our team and make your passion your profession.
