Job summary

TGR Haas F1 Team is seeking a Brake Performance Engineer to join the Controls and Systems group in Banbury. You will support development, analysis and optimisation of carbon/carbon braking systems for race cars, combining engineering discipline knowledge with data-driven methods.

You will work across vehicle dynamics, testing and race operations to improve braking performance, reliability and understanding while contributing to trackside support and technical reporting.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with carbon/carbon braking materials and brake hydraulics.
• Experience analysing race car/test-rig data.
• Strong understanding of race car dynamics.
• Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical braking-systems expertise, including master cylinders, calipers and Brake-by-Wire.
• Plan, coordinate and execute dynamometer testing to map brake material friction and wear.
• Investigate braking issues using race car and test data; address trackside feedback.
• Develop metrics, methods and tools to evaluate braking performance and reliability.
• Create and maintain brake-system models; align simulations with race data.
• Collaborate with Thermal and Aerodynamics to optimize brake temperature windows.
• Support race operations with analysis and recommendations for trackside teams.
• Prepare technical reports for stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes and tools.
