Job summary

TGR Haas F1 Team in Banbury seeks a Brake Performance Engineer to advance braking system development, analysis and optimization for carbon/carbon materials and Brake-by-Wire systems. You will map wear/friction, correlate models with race data and support trackside operations during race weekends.

Applicants need strong vehicle dynamics knowledge, MATLAB/Simulink proficiency, and experience in a high-pressure motorsport environment. Flexible hours and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
• Experience with carbon/carbon friction materials and braking system hydraulic components.
• Experience analysing test rig and race car data.
• Strong understanding of race car vehicle dynamics.
• Experience developing engineering models and data-driven analysis tools.
• Proficiency in MATLAB and Simulink.
• High level of computer literacy including MS Office.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
• Ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-paced motorsport environment.
• Flexible working hours, including weekends and race events when required.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical expertise on braking systems and components.
• Plan, coordinate and execute dynamometer testing to map brake material friction and wear.
• Investigate braking system issues using race car and test data.
• Develop analytical metrics, methodologies and tools to evaluate braking performance.
• Create and maintain brake system models and correlate with race car data.
• Collaborate with Thermal/Aero engineers to optimise brake temperature windows.
• Support race operations from the Race Support Room with analysis and recommendations.
• Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering processes, tools and methodologies.
• Build relationships across engineering departments as a contact for braking-system activities.
