Job summary

Lift Caldicotes is a vibrant, nurturing school at the heart of its Middlesbrough community. We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support pupils in early years and Key Stage 1, helping them access learning, build independence and participate fully in class activities.

You will work closely with teachers, engage with families, and contribute to a safe, inclusive environment that values progress, wellbeing and high expectations for every child.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children in Key Stage 1 or EYFS.
• Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with SEND.
• Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc.
• Understanding of child development and how children learn.
• Positive behaviour management experience.
• UK right to work – sponsorship is not offered for this position.

Responsibilities

• Support students to access lesson content and achieve learning goals, including those with SEND needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to plan engaging lessons and monitor progress.
• Help learners develop independent study skills and track their own progress.
• Work with small groups or individuals on targeted learning activities.
• Build positive relationships with students to support wellbeing and personal development.
• Coordinate with teachers, parents and carers to help every student succeed.
• Be flexible to support in all school areas as needed.

About the role

You'll play an important part in helpingstudents within EYFS access learning and achieve their goals. Working closely with teachers, you'll support students with different needs, including those with SEND, and help create a positive learning space where everyone can thrive. You'll also build trusted relationships with students and guide them towards becoming more independent learners. What impact could you have on a young person's education?

Keyresponsibilities

• Support students to access lesson content and achieve their learning goals, including those with specific SEND needs
• Worktogether with teachers to plan engaging lessons and assess how students are progressing
• Helpstudents build independent learning skills and manage their own progress
• Work with small groups or individual students on targeted learning activities
• Create positiverelationships with students and support their wellbeing and personal development
• Work with teachers, parents and carers to help every student succeed
• Be flexible tosupport in all areas of the school as and when needed

We are looking for someone who has

Goodcommunication skills, empathy, patience and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations will help you succeed. A flexible, proactive approach and a genuine passion for primary education.

• Level 3 Teaching Assistantqualification (or currently working towards it)
• GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4 or above)
