Job summary

Lift Caldicotes is seeking an proactive Teaching Assistant to support EYFS learners and those with SEND, closely collaborating with teachers to enable access to lessons and learning goals.

You will help pupils develop independent learning skills, assist in small groups or one-to-one sessions, and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment across the Middlesbrough community as part of Lift Schools.

Qualifications

  • Good communication, empathy, patience and the ability to stay calm in challenging situations.
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or currently working towards it.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4 or above).
  • Experience supporting children in Key Stage 1 or EYFS.
  • Knowledge of strategies to support pupils with SEND.
  • Familiarity with phonics programmes such as Read Write Inc.
  • Understanding of child development and how children learn.
  • Positive behaviour management experience.
  • UK right to work - sponsorship not available.

Responsibilities

  • Support students to access lesson content and achieve their learning goals, including those with specific SEND needs.
  • Work together with teachers to plan engaging lessons and assess how students are progressing.
  • Help students build independent learning skills and manage their own progress.
  • Work with small groups or individual students on targeted learning activities.
  • Create positive relationships with students and support their wellbeing and personal development.
  • Work with teachers, parents and carers to help every student succeed.
  • Be flexible to support in all areas of the school as and when needed.
