Job summary

St Joseph's Catholic Primary School (Wx) is seeking an EYFS Support Assistant with SEN experience to join our Early Years team. You will provide nurturing support for children with SEN, working across the EYFS setting to help them access an engaging curriculum.

You will support development of communication, language, social and emotional skills, while promoting inclusion, transitions, and independent learning in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children with SEN/additional needs.
• Genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
• Understanding of play-based learning and the EYFS.

Responsibilities

• Provide nurturing, consistent and targeted support for children with SEN and additional needs.
• Work across the EYFS environment, supporting children both individually and in small groups.
• Help children develop their communication, language, social and emotional skills.
• Support children's engagement and participation in learning and play.
• Use appropriate strategies to help children regulate their emotions and manage transitions.
• Encourage children's independence, confidence and self-esteem.
• Support the delivery of personalised interventions and learning activities.
• Observe and contribute to identifying children's needs and progress.
• Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues.
• Work closely with the SENCO and wider team to ensure children receive the right support.
