Job summary

Captains Close Primary School is recruiting an EYFS Learning Support Assistant to support early years learners in Reception. The role requires adaptability, a proactive attitude and a commitment to improving outcomes for all children.

The successful applicant will join a welcoming team and help deliver inspiring learning experiences from August. The post is a fixed-term contract until August 2027, working 31.25 hours per week over 39 weeks per year (term-time plus one INSET week).

Qualifications

• NVQ 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent
• Level 2 qualifications in maths/numeracy and English/literacy
• Experience of supporting teaching and learning in a formal setting
• Knowledge of child protection and health and safety procedures
• Ability to undertake professional development
• Good interpersonal skills
• Empathy with children and young people
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of a teacher to provide care and encouragement to children and young people with disabilities or special educational needs, supporting participation in activities and liaising with parents/carers/other professionals as appropriate
• Carry out planned learning activities to meet the specific needs of designated children, individually or in small groups
• Support the development of pupils' physical, intellectual, emotional and social needs and contribute ideas to planning
• Observe and feed back to the teacher on pupil performance and behaviour in line with school policies
