Job summary

Boots Opticians in Newbury is looking for a Retail Assistant to be the first and last point of contact for customers on the shop floor, listening to needs and guiding them to the right eyewear solution. You will learn through our Step Into Optics training programme, combining workshop sessions with practical, on‑the‑job experience, while delivering eye-care products and services.

Based in store and reporting to the store manager, you will build relationships, perform dispensing and pre‑screening

Qualifications

• Passion for customer care.
• Desire to learn.
• Ability to work in a retail or clinical environment (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Ordering, dispensing and collection of glasses and contact lenses
• Supporting with eye-tests and pre-screening activities
• Providing aftercare support through repairs and adjustments
• Completing operational and administrative tasks associated with dispensing prescriptions
• Maintaining shop floor standards
