Job summary

Howden is recruiting an Assistant Hospitality Manager to support the Head of Hospitality in delivering premium services across internal and executive floors. You will lead the hospitality team, ensure high service standards, and foster a professional guest experience.

With 3+ years in corporate hospitality, you will oversee staffing, training, and events, while maintaining SOP compliance and exceptional guest care. This role requires flexibility, strong communication, and a proactive approach.

Qualifications

• 3 years minimum experience as an assistant manager or supervisor within corporate hospitality.
• Proven experience managing a busy team with strong leadership.
• Strong food and beverage service knowledge, including fine dining/events.
• Experience coordinating shifts and maintaining service coverage in a busy operation.
• Excellent customer service skills and professionalism with executives and VIP guests.
• Clear communication and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Highly organized, proactive and detail-oriented.
• Ability to adapt to changing business requirements and environments.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, allergens, health and safety, and hospitality compliance standards.

Responsibilities

• Support the Head of Hospitality with day-to-day operation of the Hospitality department across all floors.
• Provide visible operational leadership during service and act as first point of contact for the Hospitality team.
• Depose for the Head of Hospitality during periods of absence.
• Ensure hospitality services are delivered in line with SOPs and service levels.
• Manage day-to-day performance and address issues promptly and professionally.
• Conduct monthly team meetings and manage team briefings with constructive feedback.
• Assist with staff rotas and respond to short-notice changes in requirements.
• Report unplanned absence to Head of Hospitality to secure adequate resourcing.
• Ensure employees are trained on customer service, uniform standards and briefing.
• Support recruitment and onboarding and ongoing development of team members.
• Maintain records for training and appraisals.
• Oversee delivery of refreshments, breakfasts, and lunches to timing and presentation standards.
• Support executive meetings and VIP guests with discreet, professional service.
• Plan and deliver fine dining lunches/dinners and events, including last-minute requests.
• Coordinate with Reservations, Kitchen, Reception and Logistics for event setup and timings.
• Ensure menus show allergens and dietary information correctly.
• Contribute to service-improvement initiatives and compliance with safety policies.
• Liaise with staff and service partners regarding day-to-day requirements.
• Carry out other reasonable duties requested by management.
• Work flexibly, including early mornings, late evenings, and occasional weekends.
