Job summary

Levy UK & Ireland is seeking a Head Chef for The Vox at the NEC, Birmingham, delivering restaurant-quality menus across high-end hospitality and large-scale events. You will lead a kitchen that champions culinary excellence, inspire a team, manage food costs, and ensure strict safety and hygiene compliance.

You will design innovative menus, oversee catering for conferences and events, and work to maintain premium standards while delivering outstanding guest experiences at one of the UK's premier

Qualifications

• Possession of relevant culinary qualifications (degree or diploma) or equivalent certifications.
• Proven experience as head chef or senior culinary role.
• Ability to lead, mentor and manage a diverse kitchen team.
• Experience in budgeting and cost management of food.
• In-depth knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Ability to create innovative and varied menus.
• Strong communication with venue sales and event management teams.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Passion for delivering high-quality culinary experiences.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and participate in food preparation and cooking to meet high standards of quality, taste and presentation.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the kitchen team to maintain a cohesive, efficient environment.
• Manage the kitchen budget, control food costs and source ingredients economically.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and hygiene standards.
• Maintain consistency in food quality and presentation with quality control measures.
• Plan and execute catering for events, meetings and functions.
• Oversee inventory management and stock control to minimise waste.
• Stay updated with culinary trends and innovations.
