Job description

Excellent Opportunity to join an exciting team

Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The Council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Executive Assistant to join us in Brent’s impressive Civic Centre, located right next to Wembley stadium and just a 12-minute train ride from Baker Street and a 25-minute train ride from Kings Cross. So if you are a skilled professional looking for challenging and rewarding work in a demanding but supportive environment - this is the opportunity you have been waiting for.

The Post

We are looking for an Executive Assistant to work within the Executive Support Team. This role will also provide support to two Directors within the organisation. This role presents a fantastic opportunity for a well organised, highly motivated and flexible individual looking for their next opportunity.

You will support the directors with diary management, managing mail/electronic mail invitations, arranging appointments/meetings and taking responsibility for venue, background papers and actions.

The ideal candidate has:

  • Experience of providing personal support to senior managers in a large and complex organisation.
  • Experience of diary management.
  • Experience of developing effective relationships with officers and partners.
  • A good knowledge of local authority functions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The role requires an emphasis on dedication, accuracy and a high level of customer focus for personal and telephone callers, with a degree of initiative to delegate and escalate as appropriate.

The Person

Do you have an outstanding track record of providing high quality personal support to senior managers in a busy office environment?

Do you have experience in working as part of a busy team, sharing good practice and working closely with others?

Are you resilient, forward thinking and able to take on a challenging workload whilst demonstrating a flexible approach and ability to respond quickly to changing workloads and priorities?

Are you dedicated and able to use your initiative to handle enquiries to ensure that your director’s time is managed effectively and they are free to respond to complex issues?

If you possess all the above and are highly organised, an excellent communicator and have excellent skills in MS Outlook and arranging meetings then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Experience working in local government, or with elected politicians or senior local authority leaders would be an advantage but not essential.

Closing Date:Sunday 1 June 2025 (23:59)
